Batavia, IL — At the Batavia Fine Arts Centre (BFAC), we believe the arts should be accessible to everyone, no matter their financial situation. That’s why we’re excited to launch our new Pay What You Will initiative, making select performances available to all members of our community, regardless of budget.

Our mission at BFAC is to cultivate a vibrant cultural hub that nurtures creativity, learning, and community engagement. With this initiative, we’re taking a big step toward ensuring that the power of live performance remains within reach for everyone in our community.

“Arts should not be a privilege, but a right,” says Dominic Cattero, Director of the Batavia Fine Arts Centre. “By offering Pay What You Will tickets, we’re removing financial barriers and allowing more people to experience the transformative impact of the arts.”

How It Works
The Pay What You Will program invites our community to choose their ticket price for select performances. Whether you’re looking for affordable entertainment or seeking to engage with creativity, this initiative gives everyone the opportunity to be part of something special.

“This program goes beyond just buying tickets,” he explains. “It’s about creating an inclusive environment where everyone can experience the joy and connection that the arts provide.”

Why It Matters
The arts offer a unique form of connection—bringing people together, offering moments of reflection, and inspiring creative thought. By removing financial barriers, we’re creating more opportunities for the community to engage with and benefit from these experiences.

“As a community, we believe in the power of the arts to refine lives,” says Cattero. “This program ensures that everyone has access to these powerful experiences, regardless of their financial circumstances.”

Community Support
While the initiative ensures affordability, we also rely on the generosity of those who are able to contribute more. When an audience member pays above the minimum ticket price, they help sustain this initiative, making sure we can continue offering access to live performances for all.

“This is a community effort,” he shares. “When you choose to pay a little more, you’re helping someone else enjoy the same transformative experience. It’s about supporting each other and lifting our entire community.”
